PURPOSE: To enable winding of a cord when a cleaner is housed by pushedly housing the handle, and to enable the winding operation of the cord to be easily carried out even in the case a cord reel is provided at the lower part of the cleaner body.
CONSTITUTION: An upright type electric cleaner is constituted in such a way that an operation part 15 is formed in the pipe part 9 of a handle 8 that has been slidably fitted to the cleaner body 1 in which a cord reel 5 is incorporated, and when the handle 8 is housed by pressing it downward, the operation part 15 pushes the other end of the brake operator of a cord winding mechanism 11 to turn the brake operator around a fulcrum 12, so that the control roller 14 of the brake operator is separated from the outer circumference of the cord reel 5 to release the rotating regulation of the cord reel 5.
