Abstract:

PURPOSE: To safely and economically adsorb and recover uranium from uranium- contg. water by using a uranium adsorbent contg. amino acid fermentation bacteria belonging to brevibacterium or corynebacterium.

CONSTITUTION: This uranium adsorbent contains amino acid fermentation bacteria belonging to brevivacterium or corynebacterium, can selectively adsorb uranium with high adsorbing ability and can be obtd. at a low cost by separating used bacteria discharged from an amino acid fermentation process by centrifugal separation or other method. This adsorbent is put in uranium-contg. water or this water is brought into contact with the adsorbent packed into a tower to adsorb the uranium. This adsorbed uranium is eluted with alkali and recovered and the adsorbent is reutilized.
