NEW MATERIAL: A urethane of formula I [Rf and R'f are each a perfluoroalkyl: x, and x' are each 1-4; y and y' are each 0-7; A is an aliphatic, aromatic or alicyclic triisocyanate; R is an aromatic, aliphatic or alicyclic carboxylic acid, or carboxylate having 1-5 COOM (M is H, a basic group); X is O, bond, NR' (R' is H, a 1-4C alkyl; CH2COOM); s is 1-3 ; but excluding a compound where Rf and R'f are each C8F17 to C16F33, x, x' and y, y' are 2, A is formula II, X is O, bond, NH, R is formulas III, and s is 1].
USE: A finishing agent for giving repellency for water, oil and soil to textiles. An amount of the urethane is applied so that 0.05-1.5 wt.% of fluorine can exist on the textiles.
PROCESS: 1-3 mol of fluoroalcohol/triisocyanate adduct, respesented by formula IV is reacted with 1-3 mol of carboxylic acid to obtain the compound of the formula I in an acidic state.
