Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve display quality without black matrix by forming a layer for reflecting ultraviolet rays on at least either of electrode substrates.
CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal panel is constituted by interposing a high- molecular dispersion liquid crystal layer 13 between two transparent substrates 11 and 12, and a counter electrode 16 and a picture element electrode 17 are formed on the liquid crystal layer sides of the substrates 11 and 12 as a transparent electrode. A light shielding layer such as the black matrix is not formed on the counter electrode 16, and in such a case, a light shielding layer 20 is directly arranged only on a TFT 18 in order to prevent the photoconductivity of TFT. Furthermore, an ultraviolet reflection layer 19 is formed only at a part corresponding to the upward part of the electrode 17 on the surface of the opposed substrate 11. By radiating light from the substrate 11 side where the reflection layer 19 is formed, the high-molecular dispersion liquid crystal layer 13 is formed, and the liquid crystal particle diameter of the layer 13 of the substrate 11 part where the layer 19 is formed is made different from that of the substrate 2 part where the layer 13 is not formed.
