An urn is made from a material which does not pollute the environment and which decomposes in a natural environment as time elapses. The material may be, e.g. wood, wood flour, paper, cloth, biodegradable plastics, or natural ores. The urn itself is decomposed by microorganisms in earth, together with ashes, and is returned into soil. Therefore, the urn can be disposed of without polluting the environment, and the problem of disposing of the urn that is no longer necessary can be solved.
