Abstract:

To prepare a preventing or a therapeutic agent for osteoporosis having estrogen activities at the bone level, but hardly any or no endometrial hyperplasia at all without mammary tumor growth activities.

This medicine comprises a compound represented by the formula [(n) is 2 or 3; R1 and R2, together with N, form an aromatic polycylic heterocyclic ring,. etc.; X is an (esterified)hydroxyl; Y is H or a 2-4C alkenyl or a 2-4C alkynyl], preferably 11β-[4-[2-(dimethylamino)ethoxy]phenyl]-19-nor-17α- pregna-1,3,5(10)-trien-20-yne-3,17β-diol and its acid addition salt with a pharmaceutically permissible acid (e.g. hydrochloric acid). For example, the daily dose for an adult is preferably about 0.5-100mg for oral administration.
