Abstract:

To obtain a thickener for a surfactant-contg. compsn., esp. for an alkyl- or alkenylpolyglycoside-contg. compsn., by using a polymerized fatty acid amide.

A polymerized fatty acid amide of the formula is used. In the formula, A is a 12-110C dimerized fatty acid residue; R1 is hydroxyl, a 1-12C alkyl or a 3-8C cycloclkyl group (contg. one to six 1-4C alkoxy groups each being optionally substs. by one or two hydroxyl or 1-4C alkoxy groups), amino, or a 1-4C mono- or a dialkylamino group optionally substd. by one or two hydroxyl groups; R2 is H or a 1-4C alkyl group optionally substd. by one or two hydroxyl groups; R3 is hydroxyl, a 2-12C alkylene group (contg. one to six 1-4C alkoxy groups each being optionally substd. by one or two hydroxyl groups), amino, or a 1-4C mono- or a dialkylamino group optionally substd. by one or two hydroxyl groups; and (n) is 0-20.
