PURPOSE: To form a coating of an aq. elastomeric paint having low-temp. flexibility, low tackiness, and high gloss by applying a compsn., for a paint dryable at ambient temp., comprising two or more mutually incompatible, water-insoluble polymers with one of them being a polymer containing N-methylol functionality on a substrate.

CONSTITUTION: A compsn. for a paint dryable at ambient temp. is prepd. which comprises a polymer mixture comprising at least two mutually incompatible, water-insoluble polymers with one of them being a polymer containing N- methylol functionality. An example of the polymer mixture is a polymer mixture of a methyl acrylate polymer with an N-methylolacrylamide polymer. The compsn. for a paint dryable at ambient temp. is then applied to the surface of substrates, such as cement walls and sport goods, to form a coating of the aq. elastomeric coating having high gloss.
