Abstract:

Use of aqueous solution of non-ionic surfactants as gel phase-free emulsifier systems for the emulsion polymerization, is claimed, where the non-ionic surfactants are (a) addition products from 1-40 mole of ethylene- and/or propylene-oxide per mole of allyl alcohol, and (b) addition products from 1-40 mole of ethylene- and/or propylene oxide per mole of allyl alcohol. Use of aqueous solution of non-ionic surfactants as gel phase-free emulsifier systems for the emulsion polymerization, is claimed, where the non-ionic surfactants are (a) addition products from 1-40 mole of ethylene- and/or propylene-oxide per mole of allyl alcohol, and (b) addition products from 1-40 mole of ethylene- and/or propylene oxide per mole of allyl alcohol, where the hydroxy-group of the addition products is end-capped in such a way that it is substituted by a structure of formula (OR). R : optionally saturated 1-20C alkyl. Independent claims are included for: (1) producing aqueous lattices by emulsion polymerization comprising dispersing aqueous solution of non-ionic surfactants as gel-phase-free emulsifier system by emulsion polymerization; and (2) a polymer dispersion obtained by the above process.
