Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions and methods for repairing and regenerating cartilage defects which overcome the problems associated with the currently available methods and compositions.SOLUTION: The invention provides methods of repairing and regenerating cartilage tissue by administering into a cartilage or the area surrounding the cartilage a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a bone morphogenic protein. In some embodiments, the invention provides a method of repairing a cartilage defect in a patient comprising a step of administering into the cartilage or the area surrounding the cartilage a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a morphogenic protein. The invention also provides a method for regenerating or producing a cartilage in a patient comprising a step of administering into the cartilage or the area surrounding the cartilage a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a morphogenic protein.SELECTED DRAWING: None
