Title:
USE OF POLYPHOSPHORIC ACID COMPOUND AS HYDROGEN HALIDE SCAVENGER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH09255787
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To inhibit the evolution of a corrosive gas upon combustion of a halogen-contg. resin compsn. or a resin compsn. contg. a halogen-based flame retardant by using a polyphosphoric acid compd. as a hydrogen halide scavenger.

The polyphosphoric acid is represented by formula I [wherein n+m≥3; n≥1; R1 represents NH4; R2 represents NH4 or CONH2, or a mixture of at least one triazine compd. represented by formula I(wherein R3 represents NH3, R4 and R5 represent NH2, NHCONH2, NHCH2OH, an alkyl, or phenyl)], and examples thereof include (modified) ammonium polyphosphate. Although the particle diameter is not particularly limited, it is pref. not more than 50μm. Triazine compds. usable herein include acetoguanamine. The amt. of the polyphosporic acid used may by such that ammonia contained in the polyphosphoric acid compd. can scavenge and neutralize a hydrogen halide evolved during combustion. Halogen-contg. resins usable herein include polyvinyl chloride resin, and flame retardants usable herein include decabromodiphenyl oxide.
