Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the concn. of zinc dithiophosphate of a used lubricating oil without producing sticky products and thereby to enable various hydrocarbon products to be easily produced.
CONSTITUTION: In this process for reclaiming a used lubricating oil contg. org. metal compds. such as zinc dithiophosphate in a concn. of 0.01 wt.% or higher, the used lubricating oil is heated to an additive decomposition temp., 204-538°C, for a residence time of 10-120 min. Thus, the concn. of zinc dithiophosphate is reduced to 0.001 wt.% or lower in the absence of a chemical demetallizing agent.
