To improve durability of a rib surface of a V-ribbed belt to maintain a desired rib surface condition.
A method for manufacturing a V-ribbed belt whose rib surface is covered with a rib surface by a canvas 15 stretchable in two predetermined directions includes steps of: disposing a belt matrix on a mandrel 20; arranging the canvas 15 on the outer periphery of the belt matrix disposed around the mandrel 20; attaching the mandrel 20 inside a shell 21 where a plurality of grooves are provided on the inner circumferential surface; pushing out the belt matrix and the canvas 15 toward the inner circumferential surface of the shell 21; pressing the canvas 15 against the inner circumferential surface with a multi-ribbed shape; and integrally vulcanizing the belt matrix with the canvas 15. The canvas 15 is stretchable to accommodate itself to the multi-ribbed shape.
