Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the surface quality of a steel ingot, to reduce the surface cutting allowance of the steel ingot and to improve the yield by coating a specified refractory material mold washing for casting on the inner wall face of a water cooling copper mold.

CONSTITUTION: A steel ingot 4 is manufactured with executing vacuum arc re-melting by coating in ≤1mm thickness the refractory material mold washing for casting 6 of MgO, ZrO2, Al2O3, CaO, SiO2 and these compound or mixture on the inner wall face of the water cooling copper mold 7 used in the vacuum arc remelting of a steel. The steel ingot 4 is not brought into contact with the copper mold 7 directly at the uppermost part, so there is no excessive heat dissipation on this part. In other words the abrupt formation of the shell is restricted and the casting surface becomes good. And yet a vapor deposition metal is melted, hence the surface fold is improved as well.
