To provide a vacuum cleaner which has improved operability and efficiency of dust collection by comprehensively controlling the moving direction and the moving speed of a suction port body, the number of revolution and the rotative direction of a rotating cleaning body, and the operation output of an electric blower.
The vacuum cleaner 1 includes: a cleaner body 2; the electric blower 12 housed in the cleaner body 2; both-way movable suction port body 8 including at the bottom surface a suction port communicating with the electric blower 12; the rotating cleaning body turnably journaled by the suction port body 8 and disposed at the suction port; an electric motor 31 which drives the rotating cleaning body to rotate it in the direction of normal rotation or the reverse direction; an acceleration detector 32 provided in the suction port body 8; a suction port body control portion 33 which controls input of the electric motor 31 according to the acceleration detected by the acceleration detector 32; and a body control portion 13 which controls input of the electric blower 12 according to the acceleration detected by the acceleration detector 32.
