To ensure fail-proof operation, to eliminate the danger of leakage of a high boiling solvent and to avert the deterioration of a work environment without generating the noise by using a liquid sealing type vacuum pump as a pump, with a vacuum distillation apparatus for the high boiling solvent from a waste liquid tank.
A distillation vessel 3 is connected to a condenser 4 in its upper part and the pressure therein is reduced to about 30mmHg by a liquid sealing type vacuum pump 5. The high b.p. solvent in the waste liquid tank 2 having a b.p. of about 220°C in the atm. pressure state is supplied into the distillation vessel 3 heated to about 120°C where the high boiling solvent is evaporated. The vapor thereof is sucked from the upper part of the distillation vessel 3 into the condenser 4. A cooling water introducing piping 10 is led to the condenser 4 and the condenser is internally cooled. By which, the evaporated high b.p. solvent liquefies in the condenser 4 reduced to about 30mmHg. The liquefied high b.p. solvent in the condenser 4 is sucked by the liquid sealing type vacuum pump 5 and is sent at about the atm. pressure into a buffer tank 12 where the solvent is stored.
