To provide a vacuum pump unit capable of priming by surely starting and stopping a vacuum pump.
This vacuum pump unit comprises the vacuum pump 10 in which the suction side is connected to a part of the casing of the water pump 102 of a water supply device 100 through a priming pipe 15, a make-up water tank 20 having a float switch 29 for stopping the vacuum pump 10 at a reference level W, a vacuum pressure detector 18 installed in the priming pipe 15 and capable of detecting the pressure in the casing of the water pump 102, and a control panel 50 for operating the vacuum pump 10. When the vacuum pressure in the priming pipe 15 is lower than a predetermined vacuum pressure, the control panel 50 operates the vacuum pump 10 by electric signals from the vacuum pressure detector 18.
