Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gyrotron device which enables widening of its frequency band by raising cooling efficiency.
SOLUTION: A vacuum window 14 for high-frequency is provided with a window base plate 23 which is made of synthetic diamond. Thin coatings 24 of fused silica which has a lower dielectric constant than that of the synthetic diamond are formed on both surfaces of the window base plate 23 corresponding to the inner section of the waveguide 12, and corresponding to only the areas inside the waveguide 12 where millimetric wave transmits. The coatings 24 function as antireflection coatings, and thereby the frequency band is widened. A cooling jacket 25 is disposed corresponding to a portion of the window base plate 23 without the coating 24 which protrudes from the waveguide 12, and the window base plate 23 is cooled by coolant. The window base plate 23 made of the synthetic diamond which has high thermal conductivity contacts directly with the coolant because the protruding portion of the window base plate 23 dose not have the coatings 24, and thereby the cooling efficiency can be raised, enabling transmission of high power long pulses.
