PURPOSE: To provide a valve element for a butterfly valve by which minute flow rate control can be carried out by means of simple constitution in which a driving unit of a conventional rotary valve can be directly utilized.
CONSTITUTION: A main valve element 1 is supported in a valve rod 2 rotationally, plural fluid passage holes 3, 4 are arranged, and disc 5 is rotationally supported in a rotational center shaft 6 on the main valve element 1 back face along the back face of the main valve element L In the disc 5, plural fluid passage holes 3a, 4a are also arranged in positions, in which they can be matched with the fluid passage holes 3, 4 of the main valve element L so as to be directly rotated by the valve rod 2 via bevel gears 7, 7a, while the main valve element 1 is rotated by the valve rod 2 via the disc 5 on the basis of abutting engagement between stoppers 8, 9 individually arranged in the disc 5 and the main valve element 1. In this way, in the vicinity of a full close position of the main valve element 1, a minute flow rate is controlled by matching based on the rotation of the disc 5 between the fluid passage hole 3 and the fluid passage hole 3a and between the fluid passage hole 4 and the fluid passage hole 4a.
