Title:
VALVE GEAR MECHANISM MEMBER FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62146243
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled control valve mechanism member excellent in wear resistance, scuffing resistance, etc., by providing a sintered compact containing Cr and/or Mo, C, S, and P or/and B each by prescribed amount and by uniformly dispersing Cr carbides and Mo carbides having a grain size of a specific value or below in the matrix of a sintered compact with a specified density ratio.

CONSTITUTION: The valve gear mechanism member for internal combustion engines is composed of the sintered compact of a ferrous alloy containing, by weight ratio, 20W60% Cr and/or Mo, 2.5W8.5% C, 0.2W2% S, and further 0.05W0.8% P and/or 0.03W0.3% B and having the following characteristics; the above sintered compact has a density ratio of ≥95% and the Cr and Mo carbides with ≤30μm grain size are uniformly dispersed in the matrix of the sintered compact in 20W60% area ratio. The valve gear mechanism member of this invention is reduced in damage to opposite materials and can be most suitably used for internal combustion engines and, moreover, it has superior corrosion resistance and, as a result, prolongation of service life can be expected.
