Abstract:
PURPOSE:To perform smooth and sure switching operation by providing an oscillation center of one of rocker arms eccentrically by a specified distance to a rocker shaft which is rotationally driven accordint to operational condition of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A high speed rocker arm 2 is supported with a rocker shaft 5 through an eccentric cam 6. An oscillation center O2 of the rocker arm 2 is lowered by a specified distance L by rotationally driving the rocker shaft 5 at the time of low speed rotation of an engine. A wide specified clearance is formed between the rocker arm 2 and a cam surface of the high speed cam 4, and under such a state, a low speed rocker arm 1 is slidingly contact to a low speed cam surface. The oscillation center O2 of the rocker arm 2 is raised by a specified distance L at the time of high speed rotation of the engine, and then the rocker arm 2 is slidingly contact to the high speed cam 4. The smooth switching operation between the high speed cam 4 and the low speed cam is performed in accordance with the rotation of the rocker shaft 5.
