CONSTITUTION: A paper feeding cassette storage space is formed by surrounding it from every direction with a feeder upper surface plate 31, a setting table C, right and left hollow pedestals 31R, 31L. Inside of the pedestals 31R, 31L, guide members 68, 68 capable of retreating in the horizontal direction are arranged. In case of installing a paper feeding cassette in a feeder 30, slender flanges overhung on the right and the left of the upper part of the paper feeding cassette are engaged with paper feeding cassette installation guide grooves 43, 43, and the paper feeding cassette is pushed into it by way of sliding it in the horizontal direction. At this time, the paper feeding cassette thick with the large maximum placing amount of sheet materials is, by setting its bottom part on the setting table C and the paper feeding cassette thin with the small maximum placing amount is, by placing its bottom part on the guide members 68, 68, installed by way of supporting their weight. It is not necessary to support the weight of either of these paper feeding cassettes by hand.
