Abstract:
PURPOSE: To change each valve lift characteristic of two units of an inlet valve or exhaust valve per cylinder as well as to simplify a valve system in terms of structure.
CONSTITUTION: An inlet valve or exhaust valve is structured into two units per cylinder, while two types of low-speed and high-speed cams 3a and 3b are composed of three cams installed in a common camshaft 5, and these cams 3a and 3b at both sides are set to one side of the two types and a center cam 4 to the other side of the two types, respectively, and a rocker member 8 being jointly used to two valves is made contact with at least the center cam 4, and in this constitution, the two valves are made up so as to be driven via the rocker member 8 in time of valve operation by the center cam 4.
