Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a mechanism, varying phase lying between two camshafts parallelly installed, so as to be composable compact in size.
SOLUTION: A spacer 3 with a helical spline 13 is locked to the end of an exhaust side camshaft 2, and a pulley 4 receiving a rotational driving farce from an engine output shaft is attached to the outside of this spacer 3. In addition, a connecting member 6 with another helical spline 12 in a reverse direction to the helical spline 13 is installed in the exhaust side camshaft 2 free of rotation, and the one end is inserted into a base end of a boss part 5 of the pulley 4, then the other end is locked to a first gear 8. In succession, an annular piston 17 provided with two helical splines 15 and 16 in conjunction with these helical splines 12 and 13 on both outer and inner circumference is installed in space between the pulley 4 and the connecting member 6 plus the spacer 3, and a pressure chamber 24 conducting hydraulic pressure from an oil passage 20 is made up of fronting on a head part of the piston 17.
