Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent a variable valve timing mechanism(VVT) from erroneously operating by lubricating oil supplied to a bearing part.

CONSTITUTION: A thrust regulating part 20 is formed of an annular groove 21 formed in a specified bearing part 4B and a flange part 22 formed on a camshaft 2. One sides 21a, 22a compose one thrust regulating surface and the other sides 21b, 22b compose the other thrust regulating surface. A cylinder head 1 is formed with a first supply path 31 for supplying lubricating oil and a second supply path 32 for supplying VVT working oil to be respectively opened to a bearing surface of the bearing part 4B. The second supply path 32 is adapted to communicate through a hollow part 34 formed in the camshaft 2 to the VVT. The thrust regulating surface is interposed between the respective supply paths 31, 32 so that the pressure of lubricating oil leaking out to the second supply path 32 side is reduced by the throttling action of the thrust regulating surface.
