To reduce friction and noises produced in a gear engaging part as much as possible in a moving valve mechanism in which a valve timing in both banks is made variable by using one VVT in a V type engine.
In a V type engine 1, exhaustion camshafts 14 and 18 supported by left and right banks 4 and 5 so as to be rotated are connected to a crankshaft via a pulley. In the right bank 4, a variable mechanism 25 having a drive gear 26 is provided in the exhaustion camshaft 14. A nonmovable gear 27 provided in a suction camshaft 16 is connected to the drive gear 26. A pulley 30 attached to the variable mechanism 25 is connected to a camshaft 20 in the left bank 5 via a belt 32. By driving the camshaft 14, the camshafts 16 and 20 in both banks 4 and 5 are driven. The drive gear 26 is caused to drive only the camshaft 16 via the nonmovable gear 27.
