Title:
VALVE TIMING CHANGING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3953665
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the necessary oil tight sealing of a pressure chamber without using any sealing members such as a seal plate or the like, and facilitate the axial alignment of a housing and a vane rotor.
SOLUTION: At a normal temperature, a vane rotor 1 is formed to be tapered, the diameter of the base end side (right side of Fig. (B)) of the vane rotor is set smaller by c1 and c2 than that of a tip side (left side of Fig. (B)), the inner diameter of a housing covering the vane rotor 1 is fixed in the axial direction, and a gap between the outer periphery of the vane rotor 1 and the inner periphery of the housing is set larger by c1 and c2 on the base end side than on the tip side. The vane rotor 1 and the housing are made of aluminum alloys having linear expansion coefficients Ca, and a sprocket is made of an iron sintered alloy having a linear expansion coefficient Cf. When a temperature exceeds the normal temperature, the base end side of the housing is expanded by Cf, and the tip side of the housing is expanded by Ca. The relationship of Cf<Ca is set. Expecting a value equivalent to a difference between the linear expansion coefficients Cf and Ca, gaps in the axial direction are made different, and the gaps are reduced to improve oil tight sealing.
