Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the operating efficiency by lessening a difference between desired load required between gear structures for preventing noise generated in a mesh portion of a ring gear and load actually applied between the gear structures to restrain frictional increase based on the above difference. CONSTITUTION:A ring gear 7 comprises a pair of gear structures 8, 9 having helical splines 8a, 8b, 9a, 9b on the inner and outer peripheries and a connecting pin 11 for connecting both structures to each other. Oil pressure of operating oil force-fed from an oil pump 16 is applied to the front end of the ring gear 7, and energizing force of a coil spring 21 is applied to the rear end, so that a pulley 5 and a cam shaft 2 are relatively rotated by moving the rung gear 7 in the axial direction of a camshaft 2. The oil pressure is increased with an increase in the engine rotating speed. Some of operating oil is supplied between both gear structures 8, 9, and further the pressure receiving area of the front surface of the front gear structure 8 where the above oil pressure is applied is larger than the pressure receiving area of the rear surface for the sectional area of the connecting pin 11.
