Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the performance of an engine and the durability, and enable this device to be applied to an engine of high rotation type by changing appropriately a valve life and valve timing independently and continuously according to an engine driving state, respectively, and forming the device simple in structure and light in weight. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with sliding contact parts 38i, 38e having sliding contact faces with cam surfaces of cams, and abutting parts 40i, 40e having abutting faces with end sides of valve stem ends 20i, 20e, at rocker arms 36i, 36e which are driven by cams 32i, 32e and thus open and close an intake and an exhaust valves 14i, 14e. The sliding contact faces are formed consecutive by two or more different curvatures, and the abutting faces are formed to keep specified valve clearances with stem faces of the valve stem ends 20i, 20e. A fulcrums of the rocker arms 50i, 50e are moved to defferent two directions according to an engine driving state so as to change the sliding contact states with the sliding contact parts 38i, 38e of the cams.
