In the vane pump having a rotor 86, slits 84 radially arranged in the rotor 86, and the vanes 87 arranged slidably in the slits 84, the vanes 87 have voids 88 which are housed in the slits 84 even when sliding till the wearing life of the vanes 87 and are exposed outward from the slits 84 when exceeding the wearing life. When exceeding the target wearing life, the voids arranged in the vanes are gradually exposed outward from the slits of the rotor, thereby compressed air in a rotor chamber flees from the voids, a desired negative pressure can not be obtained in the suction side of the vane pump, consequently it becomes possible to comprehend the target life of the vanes of the vane pump by measuring the value of the pressure.
