PURPOSE: To absorb the thermal expansion of a vane to set a clearance between the side of said vane and a side board smaller by obliquely cutting the both sides of the vane base end side of a vane compressor to provide an expansion absorbing part.

CONSTITUTION: In this vane type compressor, a lubricating oil is introduced to the vane base end part to increase the following property of the vane to a cylinder. Deformation due to thermal expansion is greater at the base end part of the vane 3 than at the top end part, due to the high temp. of the lubricating oil. However, obliquely cut parts 3c, 3d provided on the base end part absorbs the deformation due to thermal expansion. This permits a clearance between side boards 7, 8 and the sides of the vane to be set smaller over the whole area, improving compression efficiency.
