In this vapor compression type refrigerating cycle of the air conditioner for automobiles utilizing a supercritical cycle, the refrigerant is circulated in a closed circuit having a compressor 1, a radiator 3, the intercooler 4, a first expansion valve 105a, and an evaporator connected to each other through pipes, and the direction for circulating the refrigerant is changed over by a four-way selector valve 2. An intercooler bypass circuit 108 is installed between the radiator 3 and the evaporator 6 in parallel with the intercooler 4 and the first expansion valve 105a. A second expansion valve 105b for decompressing the refrigerant is installed in the intercooler bypass circuit 108.
