Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent fuel residuum from accumulating in a fuel absorbent so as to extend the service life, make a simple structure effective for improving the combustion efficiency, and shorten the length of the combustion chamber to make the apparatus compact.
CONSTITUTION: A supporting body 34 holding a fuel absorbent 32 is housed inside a body 28 which is closed by a wall plate 18 at one end. The supporting body 34 is so positioned as to leave between the wall plate 18 and the supporting body itself a space forming a vaporizing chamber 42 to which the fuel absorbent 32 is exposed. A space is formed from the inner wall of the body 28 as a communication passageway 44 to the vaporizing chamber 42. The space inside the body 28, except those occupied by the vaporizing chamber 42, communication passageway 44, and supporting body 34, is formed as a combustion chamber 46, which communicates with the vaporizing chamber 42 only by the communication passageway 44. A mixing tube 48 in which the air for combustion from an air-swirling chamber 14 and the gasified fuel from the vaporizing chamber 42 are mixed into a fuel-air mixture projects into the combustion chamber 46. Through the wall of the mixing tube 48 a multiplicity of injection holes 52 are formed, through which the fuel-air mixture is injected into the combustion chamber 46.
