Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remarkably reduce a cost and make a device compact by respectively providing a first and a second stator opposing to each other in the axial direction with mating faces abutting on each other on the outer peripheral side of a coil and cylindrical parts abutting on each other on the inner peripheral side of the coil.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic particle type brake device with a built-in annular coil 2 is provided with a first and a second stator 12, 13 having cavities for passing magnetic flux generated in the annular coil 2; a rotary shaft 15 supported thereon via bearings 16, 17; a brake plate 5 integratedly fixed to the rotary shaft 15 and arranged in the cavities of the stators 12, 13; and magnetic particles 10 contained in the cavities. The stators 12, 13 are formed into nearly the same shape opposing to each other in the axial direction. The stators 12, 13 are respectively provided with mating faces abutting on each other on the outer peripheral side of the coil 2 and cylindrical parts 12b, 13b abutting on each other on the inner peripheral side of the coil 2, and these thin cylindrical parts 12b, 13b are brought into contact with each other so as to prevent leakage of the magnetic particles 10.
