PURPOSE: To eliminate the residual bends generated in bar steels by providing movable frames which are freely luffable from horizontal to a V shape to chain conveyor guides of a cooling hearth for bar steels and moving the movable frame upward in accord the curving of the bar steel.
CONSTITUTION: Movable frames 7, 7' are provided in the longitudinal direction of chain conveyor guides 3 of a cooling hearth by riding these on a stationary frame 8. For example, if an oil cylinder 24 is operated in a variable arch type cooling hearth, an arm 22, a main shaft 21 and an arm 20 turn in this order, and the power is transmitted via a connecting rod 17 to a lever 13 and a connecting rod 11, forcing the pins 9 of the movable frames 7, 7' which are respectively movalbe in one body with the guides 3 upeward and the frames 7, 7' deflect upward in a V shape. Respective frames 7, 7' of the respective guides 3 of the respective chain conveyors form the top surface of a chain conveyor into an arch shape by varying the lengths of the lever 13, the arm 20 and adjusting a connecting rod 17 as well to eliminate the arch-like curving of the bar steel.
