Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable buoyancy profiling float which executes autonomous profiling and monitoring for a long period.SOLUTION: A variable buoyancy profiling float 2 is provided. The variable buoyancy profiling float may include a spherical glass housing 4 comprising a first hemisphere and a second hemisphere. The first and second hemispheres may be connected through a partial vacuum in the spherical glass housing. A floating system may be arranged at least partially in the spherical glass housing. The floating system may be configured so as to provide variable buoyancy control to the variable buoyancy profiling float. A sensor bundle may be attached to the spherical glass housing so as to measure at least one environmental parameter.
