Abstract:

To efficiently vary the capacitance of a variable capacitance element using a metal oxide film.

The variable capacitance element includes: the metal oxide film having a perovskite structure; a first and a second electrode film having the metal oxide film placed therebetween and to be coupled to an external voltage source; and a bias voltage source electrically inserted in series to the capacitor including the metal oxide film, and the first and second electrode films. The bias voltage source applies the bias voltage maximizing a voltage dependency of relative permittivity of the metal oxide film to the capacitor.
