PURPOSE: To provide a variable capable inclined plate type compressor for allowing a sufficient amount of coolant to flow into a shaft sealing device chamber.

CONSTITUTION: This compressor is provided with a cylinder block 1 for section- ing an inclined plate chamber 4, and a plurality of cylinders and having an absorbing path for feedback fluid in the incliner plate chamber 4, front and rear housings 7 and 8 on both ends thereof, a shaft sealing device 23 within the front housing, a shaft 12 freely rotatable on the cylinder block 1, an inclined plate 16 within the inclined plate chamber 4, a piston 15 to be moved reciprocally by its rocking movement, a slider 31 for holding the center point position of the inclined plate 16 and a spool 33 for changing the stroke of the piston 15. An absorbing chamber and a discharging chamber 28 are formed in such a way they are communicated with the shaft sealing chamber 23 within the front housing and a front side working chamber 14a respectively and shaft sealing chamber 23 is communicated with the inclined plate chamber 4 and a first absorbing chamber to be communicated with only a rear side working chamber 14b and a second absorbing chamber to be communicated with all the rear side working chambers 14b are formed on the rear housing 8.
