Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent leakage of gas and to obtain a sufficient restricting effect by a tongue member for changing gas flow rate by providing seal members on both side surfaces of the tongue member in such a manner that the seal members are brought into contact with the inside wall surfaces of the turbine housing by means of pressure differentials. CONSTITUTION:A tongue member 4 for changing the flow rate of gas flowing into a turbine rotor has on both side surfaces 4A, 4B seal members 21 of a resilient material. For example, the seal members 21 are formed with holes 22 through which the seal members 21 are plug welded to the both side surfaces 4A, 4B of the tongue member 4. The seal member 21 is of a sectional configuration having two arcuate portions disposed symmetrically up and down in such a manner that these arcuate surfaces are kept in linear contact with the wall surfaces 2A, 2B of the turbine housing, respectively. And, in the vicinity of a nozzle opening 6 with high static pressure, the seal members 21 are biased to the wall surfaces 2A, 2B and pressure differentials cause the seal members 21 to be attracted toward the wall surfaces 2A, 2B so as to keep sufficient linear contact for improved sealing effect.
