To provide a variable capacity type refrigerant compressor working with a swash plate capable of making an ability control accurately.
The variable capacity type refrigerant compressor 1 working with the swash plate includes a vessel 2 furnished with a through hole 2B, where a sensor 10 is mounted. The sensor 10 has an oscillator circuit, a sensing coil of this oscillator circuit is positioned mating directly with the side face of a piston 6. The piston 6 is driven by the swash plate 8, and the stroke is decided by the inclining angle of the swash plate 8. When the piston 6 comes into the sensible range of the sensor 10, the oscillating frequency of the oscillator circuit of the sensor changes to cause the sensor output to change. The inclining angle of the swash plate can be known by calculating the stroke of the piston 6 from the output of the sensor 10, and accordingly the inclining angle of the swash plate can be controlled accurately.
