Abstract:
To provide technology for judging abnormality of a variable compression ratio mechanism by a more simple structure or method.
A catalytic converter is provided in an exhaust system of a variable compression ratio internal combustion engine. A/F sensor is provided at an upstream side of the catalytic converter and O2sensor is provided at a downstream side of the catalytic converter. In abnormality judgment of the variable compression ratio mechanism, compression ratio of the internal combustion engine is set to abnormality judgment compression ratio and air fuel ratio of exhaust gas is reversed from lean to rich (S104). At that time, time difference between output change timing of the A/F sensor and output change timing of the O2sensor is acquired, and actual compression ratio value is led out from the value (S105). Abnormality of the variable compression ratio mechanism is judged based on magnitude of difference between the actual compression ratio and abnormality judgment compression ratio (S106-S108).
