Abstract:
Disclosed is a control device which can simplify the control operation for a variable compression ratio internal combustion engine controlled by operating a plurality of actuators including a variable compression ratio mechanism in a coordinated manner, during a transient operation. The properties of the fuel used for an internal combustion engine are judged. When the load required for the internal combustion engine is changed, the predetermined compression ratio is changed in accordance with the changed value of the load and the properties of the fuel, and the variable compression ratio mechanism is operated in accordance with the changed compression ratio. In this respect, the variable compression ratio mechanism is operated so that the time necessary to change the compression ratio is changed in accordance with only the change of the required load, regardless of the properties of the fuel.
