Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsiveness at the switching of a mechanical compression ratio, in a variable compression ratio internal combustion engine having a variable-length connecting rod.SOLUTION: A variable compression ratio internal combustion engine 1 comprises a cylinder 15, a piston 5, and a connecting rod 6. The connecting rod comprises a connecting rod main body 31 having a large-diameter end part 31a and a small-diameter end part 31b, and an eccentric member 32. The eccentric member is constituted so that an axial line of a piston pin receiving opening 32d is decentered from a turning axial line of the eccentric member, ascends the piston with respect to the connecting rod main body by being turned to one direction, and descends the piston with respect to the connecting rod main body by being turned to the other direction. The variable compression ratio internal combustion engine further comprises turn control means which controls a turn of the eccentric member, the turn control means sets an engine rotation number to a reference rotation number or larger when the eccentric member is turned, and the reference rotation number is larger than an idling rotation number when the eccentric member is not turned.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
