Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable compression ratio internal combustion engine which can change an effective length of a connecting rod while suppressing the enlargement of an engine main body.SOLUTION: A variable compression ratio internal combustion engine comprises a crankshaft and a connecting rod 6. The connecting rod comprises: a connecting rod main body 31; a first hydraulic cylinder 33a; a first hydraulic piston 33b; a second hydraulic cylinder 34a; a second hydraulic piston 34b; an interlocking member; a working fluid passage 50; and a spool 80 which moves between a first operation position for permitting the supply of a working fluid to the first hydraulic cylinder from the second hydraulic cylinder, and a second operation position for permitting the supply of the working fluid to the second hydraulic cylinder from the first hydraulic cylinder. The variable compression ratio internal combustion engine further comprises an energization member which is arranged in a crank pin of the crankshaft, and energizes the spool so that a position of the spool is switched between the first operation position and the second operation position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
