Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict a weight and a dimension of a variable compression ratio internal combustion engine while restricting inclination of a cylinder block to an engine height direction in moving the cylinder block.SOLUTION: A variable compression ratio mechanism V capable of changing a mechanical compression ratio by relatively moving a cylinder block 3 to a crank case 2 in an engine height direction LH, is disposed only at one side A of a reference surface RP. One side A of the reference surface RP is provided with a first apex-side supporting member 31t and a first bottom-side supporting member 31b, and another side B of the reference surface RP is provided with a second apex-side supporting member 32t and a second bottom-side supporting member 32b. The first apex-side supporting member is retained so that it cannot move toward the cylinder block. An energization member 52b for energizing at least the second bottom-side supporting member is composed of a hydraulic lash adjuster.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
