Abstract:
A cylinder lock capable of quickly and simply changing the setting of a key code is provided. The cylinder lock has an inner cylinder having an inner peripheral surface formed with a first slot and second slot communicating with a key insertion slot. The first slot has a wide width allowing the back portion of each of a regular key and a code changing key to pass, and the second slot has a narrow width only allowing the back portion of the code changing key to pass. There is a group of sets of pin holes, at least one set of these pin holes is adapted for receiving a group of pins including a bottom pin, a code changing pin, a driven pin and a spring. The remaining sets of pin holes are adapted for receiving another group of pins including a bottom pin, a driver pin, and a spring. In an end region of the insertion of the key, the key moves in parallel with an axial center line of the inner cylinder causing the back portion of the key to come off from the first slot and to fall in the key insertion slot. As a result the bottom pin is depressed by a key code changing recess formed in a slanted trough shape on the key.
