To provide a variable displacement compressor opening an inlet hole by immediately separating an inlet valve from the opening edge of the inlet hole when a refrigerant is sucked into a cylinder bore, and supplying the desired amount of the refrigerant into the cylinder bore.
The variable displacement compressor 100 includes: a front housing 2 provided with a crank chamber 7; a cylinder block 3 connected to the front housing 2 and provided with the cylinder bore 6; a rear housing 4 connected to the cylinder block 3 and provided with a low-pressure chamber 8 and a high-pressure chamber 9; a valve plate 5 arranged between the cylinder block 3 and the rear housing 4; and the inlet valve element 12 provided to the valve plate 5 and provided with the inlet valve 11 opening/closing the inlet hole 10 communicating with the low-pressure chamber 8. The valve plate 5 is provided with a high-pressure refrigerant storage section 15 storing the high-pressure refrigerant compressed in the cylinder bore 6 in the back surface side 13 of the inlet valve 11 and push-pressing the inlet valve 11 to an open direction 14.
