This variable displacement compressor is composed of a compressing mechanism 3 stored in a housing 2, and a power transmission mechanism 4 disposed at one end side of the housing 2. The compressing mechanism 3 includes a drive shaft 5 receiving rotation power transmitted from the power transmission mechanism 4 to rotate, a lug plate 6 fixed to the drive shaft 5 and integrally rotating, a journal 8 fixed to the lug plate 6, a sleeve 10 disposed on an outer peripheral surface 5a of the drive shaft 5 and installed rockingly in an axial direction of the drive shaft 5 in a sleeve storage portion 9 of the journal 8, the swash plate 11 fixed to the journal 8, and a piston 14 fixed on the swash plate 11 and reciprocating in a coaxial direction with the drive shaft 5 in a cylinder bore 13. A resisting body 15 is provided at a position remote from the rotation center of a link mechanism 7, and the resisting body 15 is disposed in a moving range where the sleeve 10 and the driving shaft 5 contact with each other.
