To provide a variable displacement swash plate type compressor capable of preventing a lubricant from flowing out at the time of compression at a minimum discharging volume and further capable of saving the power consumption of an electromagnet while decreasing a pressure loss.
In a variable displacement compressor of a swash plate type 10, a check valve 52 has an electromagnet 80 for opening a valve body 63 by excitation. A permanent magnet 46 is integrated with a valve seat formation body 55 so as to give a magnetic force to a valve seat 55c. The valve body 63 is made of a ferromagnetic material. The check valve 52 excites the electromagnet 80 in accordance with a valve opening order so as to separate the valve body 63 from the valve seat 55c.
