PURPOSE: To provide a variable displacement type compressor having a simplet structure, by providing a rotary ring formed therein with a plurality of through- holes which are communicated with a plurality of suction ports formed in a valve plate, and by successively closing the suction ports in association with the rotation of the rotary ring.
CONSTITUTION: When a swash plate 2 secured to a rotary shaft 1 is swung and rotated, pistons 5 are reciprocated by means of shoes 3. Compression chambers 12 defined between a cylinder section 6a and the piston 5 are communicate with suction chambers 8a, 9a through suction holes 13 formed in valve plates 10, 11, and are also communicated with discharge chambers 8b, 9b through discharge holes 14 formed in the valve plates 10, 11. With this arrangement a rotary ring 22 is arranged at a position at which the rotary ring 22 covers the suction ports 13 in the suction chamber 9a on the rear housing side 9. Further, the rotary ring 22 is formed therein with through-holes which are communicated with suction holes 13, respectively, and therefore, the suction holes 13 are successively closed in association with the rotation of the rotary ring 22.
